Fees likely for Enforcement Notices
Facing a 35% cut in their budget, the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) are considering the introduction of fees for non-statutory advice and charging ‘fees for fault’ for Enforcement Notices as a way to increase their income.
Over 9,500 Enforcement Notices were issued between April 2009 and March 2010 and HSE Chair Judith Hackitt has stated that fees were being considered for non compliance an follow up work that involves the issuing a notice to rectify the fault.
The HSE are heavily involved in consultation and advice for example for major planning works and are considering how charges might be made for this work too.
In view of the potential fees to businesses, a cost effective and timely solution for managing Health & Safety is to subscribe to our Health and Safety Support service . The Safety Business think laterally and creatively with practical solutions to prevent injuries and ensure workplace safety.
